Welcome! And a Big Texas, “Howdy!”
I have got to represent my beloved home state somehow :)

About the Author

I am Kevin. The universe truly blessed me to have been born in my beautiful home state of Texas. How can you not love our mile after mile and field upon field of lush, gorgeous, cobalt blue, Texas Bluebonnets?!? Spectacular! Don’t forget our Texas-sized Longhorn cattle that come to us in every earthen colors. And I’m not from just any ol’ part of Texas (well, as if any part is bad! ), but am from Austin’s rolling Hill Country with its freezing cold, sea glass-green, natural springs and rivers.

Life has graciously brought me to my current sunny, tropical, breezy abode in South Florida (via New York City for 5 years). Year ‘round gardening is amazing! I love hearing wild flocks of kaleidoscope-colored exotic birds soaring and racing overhead. I laugh every time a lizard outsmarts the dogs or runs up my arm to jump away so brazenly! Life is good.  Even with this commonplace Iguana…don’t worry! I was told he is “smiling at me”. Ok?!
At least he’s not a cute Texas Rattlesnake...   Oh, and yes, Mr./Mrs. Opossum, "you are welcome" for the goldfish sushi buffet my water pond provided you last month.

Growing up on a large (160 acre), rural Texas cattle farm, I experienced a universe in my own backyard. The neighboring woods surrounded the ever-so mystical set of volcanic “knobs” and springs. I sought out my own adventures every chance I was given. Treasure hunting (rocks, sticks, weird insects, whatever different!), star gazing, day dreaming of Cowboys and Indians, hoping to catch a glimpse of a flying saucer or wood fairies, and lots of fishing…oh, yeah, there were farm chores, too! At least chores had an end in sight. Disrespectful “back talk” or mischief got you 1-2 rows of vegetables to be “weeded” by hand or tool. In other words, for you city-folks, the size of our vegetable garden was 1 acre of land…about 1 football field.  It would take me about 2-3 hours sometimes to complete 1-2 rows of vegetables.

With several hundred beef cattle, several hundred pigs, several hundred chickens, many turkeys, tons of catfish and perch in our 3 fishing ponds, 10 horses, many cats and dogs, (and now one parrot, I hear), the universe had a way of teaching lessons on life and death…birth and renewing. I was fascinated. I was in love with all those creatures. I desperately wanted to be their best friend and play and ride and talk to them. Some allowed this, others refused…

As a child in the 70’s, racial discrimination was sadly all around me and in full force. I instinctively knew there was nothing wrong with people that looked or sounded differently than me. I refused to head the warnings of friends and family to stay away from those different than me. I drew closer to learn and be with those who were different. I knew they had things to teach me that no one I knew could teach me. I wanted experiences that no one I grew up with had had. I wanted to immerse my young soul with theirs…even for the briefest of moments…so that I might be close to the universe I so believed in innately. To me, as a young Warrior of the Light (and without even minutely understanding it!), that "immersion of souls" I sought out was the closest I could get to being in my idea of Heaven. I knew that I was meant to make a difference in this life. Our differences make us prized possessions of this planet called Earth. I recognized this fact before I was even 7 or 8 yrs old.

My journey today has taken me to far off countries in search of unique people and the momentary blending of souls. Life has been good to me. I am enjoying giving back each year on Medical-Surgical Missions to the poorest of provinces and 7,100 islands in the Philippines. I have opened spiritually more over the past few years and studied many aspects of spirituality, science, quantum mechanics, metaphysics, astronomy, religions, and healing arts from around the world. I have studied alongside a handful of amazing spiritual teachers. Many in my circle of friends are energy healers, channels/mediums for spirit and angelic messages, yoga practitioners, musicians, artists, and all-around amazingly positive beings (even if they can’t do parlor tricks).

My educational background is in nursing with focus on healthcare litigation, critical care, and anesthesia. I remember the day I met a young man on the college campus I was attending. He spoke of wanting to become a nurse. My mouth dropped. (Remember, I was fresh off the farm, even if my mind was in another dimension ahead of most at that time) I told him nursing was a woman’s job and WHY would he want to do it. It still makes me laugh when I talk about it. He spoke of his yearning to help others; his love of medicine; his wanting to leave the world a better place; and his knowing he would always have a job – no matter where on the planet he landed. It hit me hard. He reminded me of ME and my hearts desires. I had never thought of life in those terms. It had not been connected in such a manner that made sense energetically to me.  We became instant friends for years and headed towards nursing school together. Life always has other plans for us. That friend lost sight of his heart’s passion and stayed on as head of a veterinarian clinic he’d already run for many years. I know he is the best employee that veterinarian has and will ever have.

But here I am! I stayed true to my heart’s passion.

And there you are! Bless your little heart for sticking with me and reading this whole page! Now, check out the rest of this site.  Email all your friends or networks and tell them about my search for stories!
